Today I am thankful for balance within my body.
This is not something that often comes easy to me but today it hit me that although I have been working hard at fitness classes or yoga, I feel accomplished without feeling obsessed. I believe that this is due to setting the goal of sweating once a day instead of saying, “I want to have six pack abs,” or “I will win a competition.” Setting a goal to move my body and feel grateful for the chance to be able to run, stretch and feel centered is so much more grounding for me than to feel like I need a timeline, a result or a number to make me feel okay within within myself.
I encourage you to try this out. If you are used to feeling like you will finally be happy if you are a certain weight or if you look a specific way and you are struggling to find that happiness/calm then find a way to set goals that include you moving your body, being grateful for what it can do for you and increasing your overall health through just simply sweating. Remove the guilt and realize that your body can do amazing things. I am happily seeing changes within my body but losing weight is not at all my focus. My focus is to move. Plus, sweating everyday makes you feel an increased level of overall happiness.
Today I am grateful that I was able to do sprints this morning at a group fitness class and as I was running I reminded myself that some people are not blessed with this same ability to move. Even if it is uncomfortable, some day I will wish I could feel as free as I do when I run, so today I am being present in my body and being grateful for the possibility to feel alive.
