a day in the park // 8-20-16

Yesterday was the perfect Saturday. We spent most of the morning FINALLY hanging things on the walls and making our apartment feel much cozier, you know like a home. After that and cleaning for a while we decided that we wanted to go and take Z (our ridiculous dog) to our favorite place so far in St. Louis, Forest Park. I’m so thankful that we live so close to this place, it’s like a sanctuary it’s so huge and beautiful. We took a few outfit pics since I have posted this dress before but I wanted to put a different flare to it. The last time I wore this I had about 10 more lbs. of hair and wore it with gladiator sandals, which I loved (see it here). But I wanted to give it a bit of edge with these black booties and black hat while still keeping the boho vibe that I love so much! Z didn’t appreciate us trying to take her picture either, but it made for a perfect little trip to the park. outfit details: dress: Forever 21 shoes: Target hat: World Market dog: great pyrenees/golden retriever/emotionless photographer: my hubby. <3

boho coffee shop

A few weeks ago Teddy and I set out to explore some shopping areas and local coffee shops in St. Louis and well, I think we found a keeper. The name of the coffee shop is Rise Coffee House and it is everything wonderful and bohemian. I instantly fell in love with the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff.  I can’t wait to settle in more and go there for long days drinking honey lattes and blogging, ahh sweet bliss. The outfit I wore was super fun and flowy and a little bit of edge. I got so many compliments on the shawl which made my heart swell because it is from my favorite little boutique in San Marcos, TX that I miss stopping into so immensely. The little black and white striped dress was from Forever 21 and was less that $20 so Teddy could celebrate that little victory as well 😉 My shoes I believe were either from Aldo or Target (I swear I will get better at remembering these oh so important details!) And my little black purse is Kate Spade which I love oh so much. How cute is my husband, I mean this coffee shop…

wedding day // part one

Our wedding day was everything that we could have dreamed of, and more. It was the best celebration of our love and we wouldn’t change a thing! I broke up the day into 3 different blog posts since it got a bit lengthy. Part one is us starting the day and getting ready, enjoy! The night before the wedding, while most couples would separate and stay in a hotel with their close friends and families, Teddy and I decided to stay in our apartment. It ended up being so perfect because we stayed up until 1 am finishing our vows and writing letters to our parents thanking them for everything they have done to help us get to this monumental moment in our lives. In the morning Teddy left early but not without crying (actually sobbing) at least once before walking out the door. I posted a cute old picture of us on instagram and as I read the caption out loud to him as we were saying goodbye he couldn’t pull it together. It was clear that the day was going to be a beautiful mess of emotion!    So Teddy set off to pick up his brother and…

how we felt after our wedding

To be honest, whenever anyone would ask us if we think marriage will change anything we would always answer with a very quick, “no.” That didn’t mean we weren’t excited to get married or that we weren’t ready for this grand new chapter that life was bringing us but just that after nearly a decade together, let’s get real, we thought we have been through it all. And that was a mistake for sure. Not just that we shouldn’t ever think that we have, in a way, hit the end of the road of learning new things about one another but also that we thought marriage is just a grand party and after life goes completely back to the way it was. We have both said that since the wedding things have been different, but not in the ‘honeymoon phase’ type of different. It feels like we have fully come together as one. It feels like we are officially a family and that has really made our relationship stronger than we ever thought it could be. We know now that no phase in our life or relationship is to be taken for granted, as I’m sure that we will learn…

work trip

Teddy had a work conference on the coast in TX so we went for a week and stayed at the Omni, which was fun! It’s always nice when work allows you to see new places or experience new things so we were happy to make the trip. We ended up venturing out for dinner each night since there wasn’t much to do otherwise so I had an excuse to dress up a bit and spend some much needed time with the husband. We went to get seafood, Thai, Mexican, you name it and we likely tried it. AND we got ice cream so I would say the trip was a success. I took a lot of the pictures on snapchat totally forgetting that they would be gone but we have a few so I thought I would put some pictures from our little trip here for you all to enjoy as well!   You know that you are nerd soulmates when you have free time and you spend it reading a good book. Which is mostly a summary of our life. I just love him so much. Goodnight world. Snapchat: ashleyrainne White top, green dress and green shorts: forever 21.…
